Policy Document for Divyang Students

The persons with disability are entitled to equal opportunities & rights to Participate in the political, social, economic and self- development activities in all Walks of life. Keeping this in mind Achievers College has taken several initiatives to make the campus Divyang friendly. This includes formation of Policy document. The objectives of this policy is to avoid discrimination, exploitation And exclusion of Divyangjan from all spheres of College life and to deliver Services further to take suitable care of Divyangjan with high support needs due to Disability, family circumstances or social exclusion.

The detailed policy is as follows:

1. The College office shall maintain the records of Divyang students.

2. The College Principal shall assign duties & responsibilities to teaching and non Teaching staff to resolve the difficulties faced by divyang students.

3. The College shall provide special facilities for the divyang students and shall Create an environment to provide them opportunities to acquire quality education And to bring them into the main stream of the society.

4. The Office Superintendent shall be responsible to provide all the college Services to the students with disability on preferential basis without any queue.

5. The building lift shall be made available with assistant to such students.

6. A Wheel Chair and Walker shall be made available in the College campus for the needy students.

7. The chairperson Exam Committee shall be responsible to provide scribe or extra time during the exam if required.

8. The student’s toilets shall be provided with requisite facilities for the use of such students.

9. The College shall provide career counselling session to guide and motivate divyang students.

10. A special parking area & ramp shall be provided for the physically handicapped students just near the main entrance. Students who are differently able are entitled to access to all schemes, facilities and services in the

College without discrimination.

11. The college shall provide barrier free access, library resources, scribe and the required relaxation in examination to all students with disability as per the equal Opportunity, protection of rights and full participation.

Objectives:-

• To provide the education for the children with mental Retardation.
• To provide the vocational Training and Job placement for the person with mental retardation.
• To provide the residential facilities.
• To develop & strengthen knowledge & skills to provide services through participation in professional development & educational opportunities.
• To begin to look at barriers that disabled students face their day to day lives.
